During my surgical training, I learned eight different ways to correct a droopy eyelid. These complex surgical procedures involved complicated anatomy, tissue planes, and meticulous suturing. Today, I learned a new technique for correcting a sagging eyelid, and it’s not even a surgery! In fact, this is a treatment that patients can perform on themselves, because all it involves is dropping one eyedrop into the eye!
Upneeq is a unique eye drop for patients with droopy upper eyelids who are either not ready for a more permanent fix, in the form of surgery, or for patients with medical conditions who may not be healthy enough to undergo anesthesia.
This uplifting drop works by acting on the receptor that contracts the small muscle in the eyelid that controls the height of the lid. One of the best parts is that this drop last several hours and can be used on an as needed basis.
