What do Katharine Hepburn, Greta Garbo and Lauren Bacall all have in common? They all had legendary cheekbones that were admired by men and women alike. Today, fortunately, if genetics hasn’t given you beautifully chiseled cheekbones or a pleasing well-defined chin (or if age has slowly eroded them away), our Azul Master Injectors can create them for you – as natural-looking as if you were born with them.
How can they possibly do this? First of all, they’ve been extensively trained by Dr. Flaharty, in facial anatomy and using injectable fillers. Through hundreds and hundreds of hours of intensive training, he’s taught each one of our Master Injectors to develop a very natural aesthetic. When they’re using one of our favorite injectable fillers (like Sculptra, for example), you are provided with instant, natural-looking cheekbones in as little as 20 minutes, with absolutely no downtime. And the best thing is how long the results last – up to a year!
And what about chin implants? Marilyn Monroe was one of the first celebrities to openly admit she had a chin implant (and back then they used whale bone to add shape and definition to a person’s face!) Fortunately, chin implants have come a very long way!
Let’s say you’re at a consult with Dr. Flaharty on having either chin or cheek implants. Let’s hear from him, in his own words, about his special approach and what your options would likely be:
“Let’s start with the chin. For most people, their chins don’t bother them when they look front-on into a mirror, but when a chin lacks definition and balance with the rest of the face, that quickly becomes apparent when looking at a face from the side profile. Your profile should look like you, of course, but many of us want to give it just a little more definition, a bit more boldness. Men and women both commonly request chin and cheek enhancement here at Azul, either to help them achieve a more dramatic facial appearance, or just to restore a little lost volume to the cheek and chin areas.”
As you age, your facial tissues lose volume and elasticity. You may notice it gradually, or when you smile into the mirror, tilting your head at different angles, wondering if there’s anything to be done. Maybe you’re considering cheek enhancement, but you really don’t want to deal with surgery and recovery. All you’re looking for is something to give your face a little more lift, a little more balance. What other options are there?
“As a facial plastic surgery specialist, I’ve performed more than 20,000 facial procedures in my career. Azul’s approach to chin and cheek enhancement has changed a lot in recent years. In the past, many patients chose cheek implants to add volume to the mid-face. Nowadays, though, I rarely use cheek implants. If a patient is very deficient in the cheekbones, then we’ll still use a cheek implant, but more times than not we can solve that problem with either injectables or with fat augmentation, using the patient’s own living fat cells to add volume back to the cheek and provide that youthful fullness.”
Chin implants, on the other hand, have stayed very popular. If a patient is a little deficient in the chin, or has volume loss or recession of the jawline, adding some volume back to the chin can also be done with fat and fillers, but with a chin implant you can get a permanent and more complete rejuvenation of the jawline.
“The beauty of this approach is that, when combined with a face and neck lift, you’ll get a better result in enhancing the jawline, balancing the face, and creating a longer, leaner neck.”
