QWO – The Next Aesthetic Frontier!

Every once in awhile something comes along in the aesthetic industry that changes everything and re-writes treatment options. For 2021, that just may be Qwo-read on and see that this is the year of Cellulite-be-gone!

What is Qwo®?

QWO is the first and only FDA-approved injectable for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. It is the first treatment of its kind. The injection specifically targets cellulite on the buttocks.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is caused by fibrous bands that connect the skin to the underlying muscle. The bands become stiff over time, and as they stiffen, fat gets trapped in the dermal layer of your skin leading to dimpling, waviness, or “cottage cheese” appearing skin texture. An estimated 85 to 90% of all adult women have some cellulite

How does QWO work?

Qwo, is an enzyme (called collagenase) that targets the collagen in these fibrous bands. It doesn’t affect nerves or blood vessels or the surrounding skin. Once the fibrous bands are dissolved, the skin is released and will gradually elevate again to the normal level rather than being a dimple or depressed.

Is QWO a surgical procedure?

No, QWO is an injectable treatment option. It is a clear, odorless, water-like mixture that is injected through tiny needles into the dimples responsible for creating the appearance of cellulite.

How do I know if QWO is right for me?

During consultation, your provider can determine if you are an appropriate candidate for QWO.

Can QWO be used to treat cellulite in other areas besides the buttocks?

At present, QWO is only approved for treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. The company is continuing to investigate additional areas of treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

QWO injections will be given three weeks apart for a total of three treatment visits. Each treatment visit may include up to two treatment areas.

What is the downtime with Qwo?

Patients typically have bruising, mild to moderate soreness and possible swelling. Most patients lead an active lifestyle the day after treatment with Qwo.
