How to Improve the Appearance of your Neck

As the years roll on, you may have noticed changes in your neck and the lower profile of your face. As we age, the neck tends to undergo a number of changes — gaining wrinkles and creases, sagging skin, fat deposits increasing and a general loss of definition and sharpness of both the jaw line and neck. Want to get rid of excess fat and the appearance of a double chin?
There are a few non-surgical options including Kybella and CoolSculpting. Kybella is an injectable agent that dissolves fat cells. Injected under the chin this treatment can melt away some of the excessive fat reducing the fullness or double chin. The results occur over several weeks and the procedure is limited to the area directly under the chin. Cool Sculpting Mini is a new applicator for the treatment of excessive fat in the anterior neck. This treatment takes only one hour and the results appear over a few months. Both these non-invasive treatments may require more than one treatment for optimal results.
The goal standard for fat reduction in the neck is liposuction. Delicate cannulas (3 millimeters) are introduced through tiny puncture wounds behind each earlobe and under the chin. With modern tumescent liposuction the excessive fat can be sculpted away very precisely and completely in one treatment. In addition to removing the fat the technique also results in tightening and recontouring of the neck skin resulting in unparalleled rejuvenation of the entire neck. The procedure is quick with limited downtime. A patch is worn overnight and a gentle support Velcro sling is worn for 3-7 days to reduce the risk of swelling. There is usually mild swelling and soreness which resolves over the first two weeks. Numbness may take a month or two to completely resolve. Light activity is fine the next day and full activity can be resumed after 2 weeks. The best part is that results are visible immediately and get better over time as the swelling resolves and the skin tightens. This is by far our most successful procedure for correction of excessive neck fullness.
We find that the best candidates for these non-surgical treatments or neck liposuction are young to middle-aged patients with unwanted neck fullness, and good skin quality.
