That’s where the magic of dermal fillers come in!
Dermal fillers, also known as injectables or facial fillers, are injected underneath the skin to smooth wrinkles, add volume or soften features without the need for surgery. Luckily for us, there are two general types of dermal fillers for the benefits we want to achieve as well as the amount of volume necessary to be replaced for a natural, youthful look. Both use ingredients that occur naturally in the body.
Hyaluronic Acid fillers (HA).
This is a filler that replaces volume with hyaluronic acid, a natural protein that attracts and retains water. It is present in our skin and joints and serves to plump tissues with little risk of any reaction. The benefits of HA fillers is that they are soft and pliable and are actually reversible in certain circumstances. HA fillers can be injected anywhere in the face AND elsewhere on the body like the hands! The expected results will last several months to 2 years before fully dissolving depending on where the fillers are placed. HA fillers are excellent for treating mild to moderate facial lines around the eyes and mouth, ‘smile lines’ as well as lips and hollow lower eyelids.
Biostimulators
The second type of filler to replace volume is called a biostimulator. These are composed mainly of calcium phosphate microspheres. These injectables stimulate your body to create new collagen for larger volume replacement. The collagen formed by biostimulators can last from 1 to 2 years and will gradually fade over time. The impact may be immediate depending on what particular biostimulator product is used. With others, it may be more gradual global volumizing effect.

Is There Any Downtime?
There is no downtime with fillers – most patients resume their regular activities right away. We recommend applying ice packs to the treatment area for a few hours afterwards and avoiding strenuous exercise immediately following the treatment to allow the fillers to settle into place.
