The necklift is commonly performed with local anesthesia. Dr. Flaharty places a few incisions in inconspicuous locations under the chin and ears. Through these incisions, he then removes excess fat and tightens the skin around the neck. Surgical times average two hours. As with any surgery, some amount of bruising, swelling and discomfort may occur after the necklift. Most bruising and swelling fade within two to three weeks and pain medication will help to minimize discomfort. You will be required to wear a neck band for approximately two weeks. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work and being in public within one to two weeks after the necklift.
