6th day Post Op

March 21st, 2007

Slept in my own bed last night… took some getting used to. First day without the chin strap… showered and washed my hair.
Becoming impatient… wishing the healing process would speed up although the lasering has healed incredibly well! Dr. Flaharty is a genius!!!
It has been a beautiful week weather wise… 1st day of Spring! Funny reactions from people… I think they think I have been in a accident… they look at me and just smile…

5th day Post Op

March 20th, 2007

Slept well last night… still sleeping upright. Felt better today… having the bandages off makes a big difference.
Put my hat and glasses on and walked to get the mail… funny how the small things make a big difference.
Still feeling somewhat tired… no more pain meds just taking Advil if needed. Still feeling a little discomfort from the swelling and staples in my head.
Taking things slow which is difficult for me. Checked emails and answered some but my eyes got very tired after awhile.
Must say really enjoying my new home… haven’t had the time to do that… guess slowing down every once in a while is good!

4th day Post Op

March 19th, 2007

Had an uncomfortable night but was very anxious to get the flexan off my face.

Arrived at the office Kristy was working on my face and everyone was commenting on how good I looked??? Dr. Flaharty said “would you like to see yourself?” I hadn’t looked yet… .I said OK. He held the mirror and I looked quickly… my first reaction was “who is that person???” Lynn had been telling me all along how much younger I looked… I still couldn’t see it but once I looked beyond the swelling and bruising I am pleasantly surprised.

Came home and soaked in the tub and washed my hair… wow… how good it feels! I still say the pain meds and good home care is the secret to a speedy recovery!
Carolyn sent flowers… they are beautiful and so is she!!!

3rd day Post Op

March 18th, 2007

Woke up this morning feeling like “Groundhog Day” over and over… I am impatient. Lynn filled the big tub with warm water and brought in candles and flowers and I soaked my body and head… can’t get my face wet yet until the dressing comes off my lower lids. I feel like a new person… still a little uncomfortable but the pain meds definitely help!
Diane came by with gifts… she took Lynn for lunch… caregiver definitely needs a break… Lynn has been crucial in my recovering so well.
Dr. Flaharty called … I got emotional thanking him for giving me back 20 years!! He instructed me to rest and not talk (difficult for me) and he would see me tomorrow morning for the flexan removal.

St Patrick’s Day

March 17th, 2007

Stephen and Nicole stopped by and brought breakfast… I am only eating very soft foods and liquids. Stephen checked all the incisions and said what a great surgeon Dr. Flaharty is… I agree! Ana stopped with flowers and soup… Carolyn sent flowers… I am so blessed with wonderful friends!

Feeling a little more normal today… a little groggy. I haven’t looked at myself yet… I know I will be pleasantly surprised. Did get a little emotional tonight… feeling very grateful for all my blessings… a new home… a new face… I realized that this is not just surgery it is very emotional… I feel like I lost 20 years of my life along the line and Dr. Flaharty just gave them back to me!!! Very overwhelming! Been sleeping very well… upright.

1 day post-op

March 16th, 2007

Still very groggy—the pain meds have made me very comfortable.
Lynn drove me to St Johns to see Dr. Flaharty for post op. Took the bandages off… Lynn said Oh my God mom you look 20 years younger! Must be the swelling…
I havent looked yet nor do I want to… want to be mentally prepared…
Spent the day napping and watching 2nd season of LOST.
Slept very well… upright with a neck pillow for support. Lynn has been lighting healing candles around me, and spraying lavender on me and rubbing arneca spray on me… it definitely makes this whole healing process much, much better… note to me… let patients know this…

Surgery Day

March 15th, 2007

Woke this morning @ 5am couldn’t sleep because I was very excited to get to the Surgery Center…..waited for this for a long time….I am ready!
Arrived…was preopt’d…spoke to Dr. Flaharty briefly…don’t remember anything until I was getting in my car.  Lynn drove me home and I got settled on my “new makeshift bed”.
I had an Endoscopic Browlift; Laser to the upper and lower lids, Pinch of skin to lower lids; neck lipo and face and necklift.
Don’t remember much about the evening except sleeping on and off.  Lynn is amazing at taking care of me… few people in my life I feel totally comfortable handing over my “control” to but I do with her!
